8 Tips To Help You Break Out of A Fitness Slump (12/15)

Aloha readers!
Can any of you relate to how after being motivated to do a certain workout for so long, you suddenly wake up one day not feeling as motivated like you usually are? Because I have. It’s what I call a fitness slump. Are you in a fitness slump right now? Or maybe you’re looking for something new to do because things are sort of getting ‘boring’.

Toady I’m going to give up a few pointers in how to get out of this slump and get active again!

1. Get up and do something – move around! Wallowing is a self-perpetuating state of mind and will keep you in this slump!

2. Start small – you may feel like you need to a LOT to make up for what you haven’t done, but it should be the opposite! Pick one thing to do – like go for a 30 minute walk – and start from there. Telling yourself you’re going to go to the gym every day for 2 hours is going to exhaust you quickly, leaving you feeling discouraged and unmotivated.

3. Try something new – maybe you’re in this slump because you got bored with your previous workout routine. Check out something new! Many gyms have free drop in classes to try out.

4. Set ONE goal – sometimes we have too much going on in our life, and our mind can get clouded. It’s hard to maintain energy and focus when you’re being pulled on one direction. Whether your goal may be to go for a 20 minute walk each day, or to go to the gym twice a week, focus on the one thing that you want to do first.

5. Get Support – whatever it is that you want to try, find a friend to join you! Inspire someone else to get active with you!

6. Tell your friends, share your goal publicly – use different forms of social media to tell your friends and family what your goal is what you’re going to do to achieve that goal. This way, not only can you look forward to updating your statuses, you would want to avoid the embarrassment of having to admit that you gave up on your goal!

7. Find your inspiration – look for people or success stories of people who have done what you’re aiming to do. Use their actions and guidance as a form for inspiration and motivation!

8. Treat yourself to a new fitness outfit – There’s probably not too many things that offer the same thrilling feeling as going shopping. After picking out your new outfit, you’ll probably want to take it to the gym for a spin to show it off – and hey, maybe break a sweat too!

Hopefully you find these posts helpful, as I'll be trying to post more of these in 2015! If there's anything specific you'd like to learn more about, leave me a comment below and I'll make note of it!

Cheers!

First Day Back to Lifting

Aloha readers!
I have survived my first week of back to school :D hehe

I also took this opportunity to hit up the gym and lift some weightssss. No doubt, it felt good!

Sporting my black and white camo tights from abs2bfitness

Lifting weights help me feel strong, and workouts like the ones from 21 Day Fix make me feel good (probably from all the sweating).

Speaking of the 21 Day fix, I guess you can say I've diverted away from it before completing it entirely :( the last few days of work diverted my attention and energy, and I was very concerned with finishing my personal training exams.

Newest pair of tights from abs2bfitness. I have loved their tights from day 1! They always fit comfortably, no tugging and pulling required, and it's an eye-catcher when you're at the gym and out and about. Click the link above and use SELLY15 for 15% off your purchase!
This pair, specifically, is loved by the mr and mrs bumble bees D= I looked like a lunatic swatting at them as I was walking to the bus stop!

Today I wanted to talk about something that often falls into how people define themselves.
People often say "I am fat" because they feel down because they are overweight, and perhaps even have a lower self esteem and not much confidence over their own body.

However, we shouldn't let that define us. I have excess body fat that I want to shed too. But I don't / steer away from telling myself or others "I am fat". There is so much more to a person that defines who they are than simply by their outward appearance. It's a combination of what's on the outside and the inside.

For me, I am a fitness enthusiast who is always trying to do better. I am a dedicated student who puts many of my hours into studying, for dusk till dawn. I am a personal trainer with a growing passion for health and fitness, who hungers for knowledge, and wants to do what I can to help others like yourself achieve their goals. Oh, and yes, I have fat on my body too.
But that's not what defines me! And it shouldn't define you either. The point is, move forward and dig deeper to find something that shows who you truly are.

Learn to love yourself for who you are, each and every piece of it!

Cheers!

Fall Down Seven Times, Stand Up Eight Times

Aloha readers!

Today's post is a little bit personal. I want to share with you something I posted on Facebook recently.

I haven't been feeling my best the past two days (reasons unknown), and it's really taken a toll on me. Tonight, I had some deep thoughts about how awful and sorry I've been feeling for myself. My life the past 6 months has been a constant cycle of: giving up, feeling sorry/awful/upset, take some time off, pick up the determination and motivation to start again, do good for a few days or a week, give up.

It made me ask myself: Why do I always fail so quickly? What am I doing wrong? Why can't I be consistent? Why does my determination dwindle so quickly? Why do I lose sight of my big picture so easily for the instant satisfaction? Basically, I've been feeling like a phony the past couple days!

This is my internet statement that starting today, I am going to commit to this change. I can't full on jump in and change everything in my life all at once in one day - because I know that's just too drastic and it won't last. Little changes by the day, one step at a time, one day at a time.

So for today, I have my meals planned out, and I have my To-Do list made.

Another change that I've introduced to my blog is .... a new title change! For you readers, this may not be a huge deal to you - but to me it is! This little change opens doors and windows to bigger changes in the upcoming future.

I started my blog a little over a year ago, when I first started my health and fitness journey. It started out with a selfie in the bathroom, which slowly led to book reviews and workout posts, and then to things we have today: workout routines, progress photos, recipes, foodie photos, grocery hauls, giveaways, and even an ebook along the way!

Thank you for reading and supporting me.
I don't know you guys, but I love you!

Cheers!

Morning Rest Day + Some Motivation (05/08)

I woke up this morning, feeling the most tension I've ever felt in my glutes, hamstrings, and quads this morning. It's a little hard to bend down and sit on the toilet xD, but it's all worth it because I know that means I've worked hard and pushed myself during yesterday's leg workout :D

Yesterday I posted about how I really disliked leg days, and never gave it my 110%.
But after yesterday's workout, I have a different perspective on leg day now :P

I pushed through the entire workout, and gave it my 110% efforts. I kept myself motivated because I know what my current goals are (not only to finish the workout without cheating my way through, but also the bikini body I have chasing after).

So here's a few pointers for motivation today:

Yesterday was a really good day, but not every day will be the same. Take it one day at a time. Believe in yourself; Wake up in the morning telling yourself that you're going to get it. You're going to do what it takes to get it. So get up of bed, think positively, and go get it!

This picture really speaks to me.

So much of your life is spent doing work; if you're not happy doing it, then why are you doing it?  Do what makes you happy. If I'm not happy doing it, then why should I continue? Instead of seeing workouts as chores, I try to envision them as valuable investments for my physical health, mental health, and overall happiness, satisfaction, and confidence for my body.

Bottom line, don't stop searching until you find what you love to do :)

Ramble of the Evening: Showing Gratitude for the Little Things

I apologize if you've come to my blog today expecting some workout pictures and my routine, but lately I've been trying to focus more on the mental stuff rather than the physical stuff.

So my ramble of the evening begins...

Sometimes we're so busy and stressed, we get carried away and forget about the little things. While on campus studying on a Friday night, I went to get myself a latte at the Starbucks. Something as simple as the barista commenting on my make up and saying "I really like you're eyeliner, it's really cute!" easily made my day. It's these little gestures/comments that can make people's days. I know it sure made mine!

I walked away feeling happier and more cheerful, and it made me want to "pass on the good deed" of making someone feel happier/ helping someone out. On my way back to my study area, I bumped into two random strangers would looked puzzled and lost. I kindly approached them, asked where they were heading and if they needed directions, and directed them towards the right direction. The guy left with a big smile on his face and said "Thank you, I really appreciate that".

It kinda makes you think "hey! I'm putting faith back into humanity!", or maybe something like that.

I've also spent some time over the past weekend thinking about the different things I want my future to consist of, in terms of my career and my fitness related issues (personal training, running my blog, starting a business of some sort, etc).

It frustrates me that I want to do so many of those things right now, yet I need to focus my time on school and need to build my way up there. That being said, it only makes me want to work harder to do better, and achieve the many other things I also want to achieve. It's by doing that step, that will allow me to take another step towards my other fitness and business related goals.

So here's to the start of a new semester, of the continuation of motivation, concentration, dedication, and hard work on both my studies and my personal health and fitness levels.

(It's cold in my house hehe)

Cheers!
