Grocery Haul! (09/21)

Aloha readers!
I hope you've all had a great weekend, and are all ready to kick some butt this week!
I went to go get some groceries today, but of course I took a couple selfies before leaving the house :)

I also like to take some time to plan out roughly what I'll be eating each day, possibly even each meal, and then use that information to plan out how much food I want to pick up!
I was a little short on time today, but here's a rough idea of what it would look like:

Top left corner: grocery/ingredient list
Notebook: plan of meals for the week

I had full intentions of making this week's photo more interesting, ie taking photos with my grocery cart or while I was shopping...but I forgot =P So for another week, you will have to settle for this overfilling table food!
On the table (left to right): celery, carrots, sweetened vanilla almond milk, light thai coconut milk, mixed spring greens, red pepper, zucchini, onion, coffee grinds, strawberries, simply whey protein bars, sour cream, burger buns, chia seed bread, broccoli, garlic, brussels sprouts, natural beef hot dogs, some milk.

Some meals that I'm planning to make (nothing crazy) include my signature coconut curry chicken (using much of the veggies pictured, and the coconut milk), toast with scrambled eggs and cheese, tuna and legume pasta salad (not pictured), spring mix salads, sweet chili chicken burgers, and more!

I've got a busy busy week ahead of me, but since I'm not a huge fan of prepping meals for more than 2 (max of 3) days, I'm going to opt for quick and simple foods (rather than always buying food, like I have been!)
Things like the sweet chilli chicken burger, tuna legume salad are all quick easy options!
Not to mention the ingredients can be all made together during dinner, and used for lunch foods too!

For some time, I always thought "why can't I meal prep like other people?" "how come they're seeing better results than I am?" Well, the result part was obvious - because I wasn't 100% committed! Why wasn't I 100% committed? Because what works for them DOESN'T work for me. In other words, in order for me to succeed, do well, and see the results I deserve, I need to find out what works for me and stick with it! Be 100% committed!

Online Shopping Haul!

Aloha readers!
My apologies for not getting the Chest, Tricep, Shoulder workout up on my blog as I promised.
I was extremely tired that day, woke up feeling sick the next day, and am still feeling sick today. I even had to stay in bed for almost a whole day to let my body rest and heal.

Anyways, as promised, here is the workout!

For those of you wondering, I am keeping the weights low so I can do higher repetitions, fatigue my muscles, and aid in endurance training rather than focusing on muscle size. My goal is to shed excess body fat, and have toned, lean muscle to show for it! :)
So as I was laying in bed on Friday, I was bored and decided to do some mindless online shopping :P
I ended up picking up:
a cute new coffee mug (I like to believe that a cute mug with coffee in the morning can help start off your day right)

a new 2015 planner agenda and a fox pen to go with it (I plan on using the planner for my client training times, appointments, and scheduling for writing blocks for nutrition and workout plans)

a couple books that were recommended that teaches about how to find your drive, and how to work smarter but hypothetically not harder. Very excited to try and make time in my busy busy schedule to read these!

Since I'm ill this weekend, I wasn't able to do my legs workout on Friday :( To make up for that, I'll be doing my leg workout on monday, and then doing chest, tricep, and shoulders on Tuesday!
Stay tuned for my leg workout post! It's going to be killer!

Cheers!

It's Almost Friday! (Good Morning Workout)

It's almost Friday!
After a long week, we all need a good morning stretch to really wake us up and prepare us for the long day ahead.

The Good Morning Workout below is something I like to do roughly 10 minutes after I get up (after brushing my teeth and cleaning up).

Give it a try!

I haven't been working out much lately - the weather has been so so nice out, and I've been spending much of it with the people I love and cherish the most <3 (He may be pouting, but he loves me, I swear!)

Bikini Booty Summer Body (BBSB) will for sure kick off next Sunday!
If you haven't downloaded the program yet, join me in getting your bikini body this summer!

Cheers!

04/26 - Grocery Haul of the Week!

Sometimes it's hard to imagine that I can eat ALL this food in roughly a week!

I LOVE grocery shopping. Mainly because I know I have the ability to control what I get to eat for the next little bit, it also allows my "nutrition-geek" side to come out and play :)

For this week, I only have a photo of my haul. But I'm hoping in the next couple weeks I'll be bringing videos to you of my grocery hauls :D

So from this weeks haul I've got the staples:
  • Frozen and fresh strawberries
  • Broccoli and mushrooms
  • Cucumbers, Tomato, and Zuchinni
  • Greek yogurt
  • Chicken filet and tilapia filet
  • Smoked salmon

And a few new things that I don't usually have:
  • Organic, gluten free bread
  • Kale and broccoli mixed salad
  • Annie's Creamy Shell Mac and Cheese (I probably butchered that)
  • Garlic flavored Risotto

I'm not a huge fan of box Mac and Cheese, but I hear great comments about Annie's M&C, so I had to give it a try when I found it in stores!

A challenge of mine is to use up all my food without letting it go to waste. So this week, it is my goal to try and utilize as much as possible for my $65 grocery haul :D I'll be looking up some new recipes for my tilapia, and meal prepping roughly 3 days worth of meals at a time.

Save Money While Grocery Shopping! (02/20)

The boyfriend came and took me to grab a sandwich at a coffee shop (delicious by the way), and then he took me grocery shopping.

What I love about grocery shopping

  • The thought of having complete control over what I put into my cart/ my stomach makes me feel strong and independent.
  • Being able to put the knowledge I have to use makes me feel useful!
  • Saving money!!! Even though buying groceries cost money, it saves you money in terms of discounts, savings, and not eating out!
My super-saver-bargin-coupon digging side kicked in last night when I was putting my grocery list together, and I made sure I looked through several different grocery store flyers for the best deals.

Today, I chose superstore. Their produce was significantly cheaper than it's competitors, not to mention that I also have their Mastercard and Points card, which means that I get points for shopping there (which equals free groceries in the future, for those of you who don't know!)

My Grocery Haul of the Day
All for under $50!

Everything here will last me over a week, maybe week and a half or more. I've got some regular fruit yogurt and greek yogurt, organic frozen fruits for smoothies, fresh vegetables, and some meat :)

What I felt the best about when leaving the store is not only did I save money on my groceries, but it also contributed to this:

Which means free groceries next week! And to take that another step further, I recently discovered a website called SnapSaves. What you do is look at the weekly offers, decide if you need to purchase those things, and scan+send the receipt to them after shopping - and you get money back for it! Sign up today so you can start saving too!

This makes me look forward to the next grocery trip in a couple weeks!

Happy Hump Day everyone!
Cheers!

The Holidays Are Here!

Aloha!

First things first, I am done with exams!
Horray! Fall semester exams are finally over and I feel freeeeee!
Complications did come up and I'll have to get some exam rearrangement, so hopefully that goes well.

#2 The holiday seasons are here and I am ready to celebrate! My mom isn't very big on celebrating christmas with decorations and cookies and all the flown blown works, but thankfully this year I will be doing much of that holiday season festive stuff with my boyfriend and his family :)

It feels like it was only a few months ago before I met this wonderful man - but it's already been a year! He reminds me every morning of how blessed I am to have him, my mom, and all of my wonderful friends. It really makes me reflect upon the many things in my life, and also reminds me to be faithful for everything I have - and not the things I don't have.

#3 If you're a frequent visitor of my blog, you may or may not have noticed the Vitacost banner on the right hand side there.
