People Cray Cray for Cardio + Chest, Tricep, and Shoulder Workout (10/01)

Aloha readers!
As promised, I am going to share my chest, tricep, and shoulder workout from today.
If it seems familiar, that is because I am backtracking a little bit and doing my week 1 workouts again :)
One thing I did change up was incorporating supersets with one compound and one isolating movement, and doing drop sets (KILLER!)

Something happened today that was quite frustrating and irritating, and I would like to share it with my readers. My school gym is always bombarded with people. During slower times (6-8 am, 10-11am, and later in the evening), the crowd dies down, but there can still be a lot of traffic going around. We also have the gym protocol of signing up for cardio machines.

However, like most gyms, this is done with an erasable marker on a laminated sheet of paper. That being said, people tend to cross off / erase off names so they can put there name down. That happened to me today.

Or in this case "yea, no... don't erase my name of the signup sheet"

The part that irritates me the most is: the girl refused to admit and apologize for erasing my name to begin with, and was subtly accusing me of being the one who erased her name in the first place.  She also claimed that she had booked it at 10 AM (this happened at 3 PM), when in fact the slot was empty when I signed up, and refused to share the machine with me since it was now "double booked".

I felt so frustrated that I refused to speak to her any further and walked away. People be crazy and want to get their cardio in! What ever happened to gym etiquette? What ever happened to being kind and sharing? I was only going to use it for 10 minutes anyways!

*Thank the lord for the wonderful young lady who allowed me to use her booked elliptical for 10 minutes as she went and did otherwise. *

This was my second time doing cardio this week, and so far I'm quite enjoying it!
It gives me a great sweat at the end of my session, and since I'm just re-starting I'm keeping them nice and short!

(It's quite hard to take a photo while going 12+ mph on an elliptical xD)

I'm looking forward to creating a kick-butt playlist for my cardio sessions the upcoming weeks! Stayed tuned as I plan on sharing that with all of you too! :)

Cheers!
xoxo

Why Do You Exercise? (05/28)

Seeing my friend post about why she exercises got me thinking about the question.

1⃣ I don't want to be overweight - I've always remembered being a chubby kid growing up, and my parents were always encouraging me to "lose weight". I'm older now, but no doubt I am still overweight.

2⃣ I want to be healthy. By no means does being a bit overweight directly links you to being unhealthy, but I definitely don't feel great about myself when I'm feeling breathless after 3 flights of stairs (I hate you university)

3⃣ I want to feel more confident over my body. Some days, I feel like a sexy panther ๐Ÿฏand I'm ready to take on the world. Some days, my body makes me want to hide in a bag ๐Ÿ‘

4⃣ I want to live up to my promises. I've made many goals in my lifetime, some accomplished some left unfinished. Being able to lose the excess body fat and keeping it off has been one of the unfinished ones. I was able to lose 15 pounds over a 6 month period, but school stress and lack of exercising helped me regain that quickly.

5⃣ I want to use my knowledge and passion for health and fitness to help people.
6⃣ I want to be able to live my life as an example and help others. I've finally been accepted into Dietetics Nutrition this year, and with the completion of my degree I will be able to help many others with their health challenges.

7⃣ I want to have a flat stomach one day - doesn't have to be ABS. Just a flat tummy - cause I've never had a flat tummy

8⃣ I want to have that big booooty!

Weekly Article: Which Should I do First: Cardio or Weights?

Which Should I do First: Cardio or Weights?

When it comes to exercise, females tend to be under the illusion that lifting weights will make them grow bulky muscles, and that cardio is the only way to lose weight. However, that is not the case.

Females naturally do not have the same testosterone levels as men do, so it’s almost near impossible to build huge muscles like the ones you see on male bodybuilders. That means when you consistently lift weights and eat a clean and balanced diet, you will build lean muscle on your body and work your way towards getting those curves that almost all ladies desire.

Moving off the treadmill and towards the dumbbell rack can actually do you more benefit that you may have realized. Weight lifting bears many benefits. Building lean muscle to achieve those sexy looking curves, increasing bone strength and density, and increasing your metabolism are just a few of the many benefits. Lean muscle helps raise your metabolism and burns more calories than fat while resting.

For the female audience who’s main goal is weight loss, the treadmill is a good option to start with. Unfortunately, simply sticking to the treadmill may not allow you to achieve weight loss in the long run. When your body becomes familiar and comfortable with your workout routine, your body and the numbers on the scale start to a plateau.

On the other hand, for the female audience who are trying to achieve the sexy curves look, the answer is obvious - lift those weights! Consistently lifting weights will help your body strengthen it’s muscles while slowly burning fat stores for energy.

So the answer is both! Do both! When you combine a mixture of weight lifting and cardio, you can maximize the results of your workouts! Utilize the treadmill or elliptical to burn calories, but also use the dumbbells and barbells to strengthen your muscles.

When you’ve got less body fat to keep your muscles from hiding, you will then appear more toned with the right curves at the right places! Combine that with a motivation, dedication, and a healthy balanced diet, and you will be on your way to the new, sexier you in a matter of months!
