Workout of the Day: Back and Bi's (10/27)

Aloha!
Today was my first day back at the gym after a couple weeks off due to the chaotic amount of work that had to be done during midterm weeks D=
It was a hard workout to get through today because of my mentality, as it felt like half the time I wasn't really there :( On top of that, my heart rate monitor was acting up, and refused to tell me that I do have a heart beat. It either needs a good proper cleaning and battery change, or maybe it's just time for a new one!
But tomorrow, tomorrow is a new day. And tomorrow, it will be better :)
Not to mention that I got my LED Better socks to keep me warm AND show off during my squats :D

Today's workout was very close to what my basic back and bicep workouts look like, but I also threw in those "should wing raisers". I wrote that when I was half asleep, so excuse the silly name. It's the exercise where you have your arms on your side in an L shape, and you lift the weights with upper delts and shoulder muscles. Ohhh I'm going to feel the burn tomorrow!

This seemed appropriate since 1: I don't like the treadmill, and 2: the machines were all full for the next 2 hours when I got to the gym, so today was no cardio/elliptical day for me :P

Legs and abs tomorrow! And maybe a little it of shoulder work, depending on how they feel!
Until then!

Cheers!

People Cray Cray for Cardio + Chest, Tricep, and Shoulder Workout (10/01)

Aloha readers!
As promised, I am going to share my chest, tricep, and shoulder workout from today.
If it seems familiar, that is because I am backtracking a little bit and doing my week 1 workouts again :)
One thing I did change up was incorporating supersets with one compound and one isolating movement, and doing drop sets (KILLER!)

Something happened today that was quite frustrating and irritating, and I would like to share it with my readers. My school gym is always bombarded with people. During slower times (6-8 am, 10-11am, and later in the evening), the crowd dies down, but there can still be a lot of traffic going around. We also have the gym protocol of signing up for cardio machines.

However, like most gyms, this is done with an erasable marker on a laminated sheet of paper. That being said, people tend to cross off / erase off names so they can put there name down. That happened to me today.

Or in this case "yea, no... don't erase my name of the signup sheet"

The part that irritates me the most is: the girl refused to admit and apologize for erasing my name to begin with, and was subtly accusing me of being the one who erased her name in the first place.  She also claimed that she had booked it at 10 AM (this happened at 3 PM), when in fact the slot was empty when I signed up, and refused to share the machine with me since it was now "double booked".

I felt so frustrated that I refused to speak to her any further and walked away. People be crazy and want to get their cardio in! What ever happened to gym etiquette? What ever happened to being kind and sharing? I was only going to use it for 10 minutes anyways!

*Thank the lord for the wonderful young lady who allowed me to use her booked elliptical for 10 minutes as she went and did otherwise. *

This was my second time doing cardio this week, and so far I'm quite enjoying it!
It gives me a great sweat at the end of my session, and since I'm just re-starting I'm keeping them nice and short!

(It's quite hard to take a photo while going 12+ mph on an elliptical xD)

I'm looking forward to creating a kick-butt playlist for my cardio sessions the upcoming weeks! Stayed tuned as I plan on sharing that with all of you too! :)

Cheers!

Workout of the Day: Abs & Cardio (02/12)

Abs can be tricky. We often
feel the need to do a lot more than we really need - in order to
reveal our abdominals. However, that may not be the case.

Now don't we all feel this way?! The "secret" (it's not really
a secret) to revealing your abs - is to eat a clean, healthy, balanced
diet and pair that up with some fat burning cardio exercise.
Sorry, but doing 300 sit ups a day won't get them to show!
Abs will only show when the overall body fat% drops!

This ab workout will not only help you strengthen your abdominals,
but the circuit layout will help you burn some extra calories as well.
For more strength building& fat burning workouts, check out my
Monthly Downloadable Workout Plans!

Plans are, you can read more about it here

Workout of the Day: 02/05 (Abs & Cardio: At Home Edition)

Wednesday's are my longest school days, and I'm usually exhausted
by the end of the day. Instead of lifting heavy at the gym, I'd rather
spend some time at home working on a Ab circuit.

Speedbags: Use your right arm and cross punch to the top left corner, and
your left arm and cross punch to the top right corner. Engage your abs
as you move from side to side!

This workout is similar to workouts that can be found in my
Monthly Downloadable Workout Plans (MDWP). MWDP includes both
workouts that can be done at home and at the gym. If your goal is to
build muscle and shed fat, then these workouts are suitable for you.
They are based off of previous workouts I've created and posted on my blog.

For complete set ranges, rep ranges, break ranges, and tips for daily workouts,
you can download my Monthly Downloadable Workout for just $5.

We're half way through the week everyone!

Workout of the Day: 01/28 (Abs & Cardio)

I've never been a big fan of Ab workouts, mostly because my weak little
ab muscles burn out so quickly :( This circuit will target mostly your
abdominal and obliques, and get your heart pumping simultaneously.
Nothing like a fat burning abdominal circuit to reveal those abs!
(Along with a healthy, clean balanced diet of course ;) )

Tip: If you're used to including Ab workouts in your routine,
feel free to add some weights! For example, you can
use a medicine ball for crunches and russian twists!

Baked Chicolate Brownie Quest Bar! Decided to try that out today after so long, and my oh my. My taste buds were in heaven. To make this:   1⃣  microwave quest bar for 10 seconds   2⃣   flatten/roll out the quest bar   3⃣   Cut into 3 or 4 pieces   4⃣   Bake at 350 for 6-8 minutes.

Cheers to abs in the growing! :)

Workout of the Day: 01/21 (Leg Circuit; Glute Emphasis)

Today's workout is "Booty Building Leg Circuit". It's another dollar a day training workout that I downloaded from Fitness Barbie Lauren Gleisberg's blog.
This workout was supposed to be done yesterday, but the gym was super packed and people were being rude and weren't sharing machines. I gave up and left, but re-did the entire workout this morning.

After being incredibly sore from the upper body circuit workout, I knew exactly what kind of workouts to opt for when I'm looking for  a good challenge.

Lying hamstring curls - 35 lbs
Abductor machine - 30 lbs
Wide stance squat (no machine)- 8 lbs db per hand
Cable kickbacks - 10 lbs
Db stiff legged deadlift - 5 lbs db per hand
Walking lunge - 10 lb db per hand

With my heart pumping and a lot of sweat dripping off my body, this was definitely one of the greater workouts I've had in a long time! Looking forward to a rest day tomorrow, and then another upper body circuit!

Baby muscles are growing!

Cheers!
