Workout of the Day - HIIT Circuit Training (01/26)

Aloha readers!
Today I did something different, and by different I mean good!
For the first time in a while I worked out with a friend! For the majority of the time (since I started really working out again), I've always worked out by myself. Seldomly a friend would join me to workout, but more than often we are working a different set workout that day so we just do our own thing.

Today, a friend I met way back in junior high met up with me. It was very nice to catch up with her, not to mention having someone work out WITH ME and push me (and I pushed her too) to keep going and not give up. It's been a while where I've had an external source of motivation that pushed me like the way my friend pushed me today - and it felt AMAZING. And by amazing I mean exhausting, haha.
Here is a breakdown of the workout we did today:

Round #1:
Jump squats - 15 seconds work, 45 seconds rest
Mountain climbers - 30 second work - 45 seconds rest
Jumping jacks - 30 seconds work - 45 seconds rest
Side jabs with half squat - 30 seconds work - 45 seconds rest
Alternating superman - 60 seconds work - 45 seconds rest

THEN, my friend said let's kick it up a notch. So we took out the rest breaks and had roughly a 2 minute rest break at the end of the circuit.

Rounds #2-4:
Jump squats - 15 seconds work
Mountain climbers - 30 second work
Jumping jacks - 30 seconds work
Side jabs with half squat - 30 seconds work
Alternating superman - 30 seconds work
2 minute break

By the end of the 3rd round, we were having a tough time pushing through - but we verbally encouraged each other, and we made it through the fourth round, drenched in sweat.

This working out with a friend thing is actually such a blast! I really enjoy (and need) my me time, but this I can get used to. Big thanks to my friend for coming out and working out with me!

Cheers!
xoxo

Workout of the Day: Abs & Cardio (02/26)

Another busy week ahead of me. Sometimes I wish I
could really just sit down, sip on a smoothie and read some
fitness magazines! But since that's not going to happen any
time soon, Abs and Cardio it is today.
This workout is based off of workouts from my Monthly Downloadable
Workout Plan. If you aren't sure what that is, you can
read more about it here
I will post the new download link for March's workout at the end of the week!

Happy Hump Day!
Cheers!

Workout of the Day: Legs Day Circuit (02/20)

It should say "leg curls" instead of leg circuit on the first set of
exercises xD. This is what happens when you try to juggle many
things at once! You make mistakes!

It's important to live life with a balance, and same goes with your workouts.
It's understandable to train the upper body more than the lower body
because results seem to appear faster, but this can lead to muscle imbalances!

If you're starting to wonder why I'm doing certain workouts different
days of the week, it's because I'm following this month's downloadable
workout plan!

This workout is a glimpse at the many other different workouts
that are in my Monthly Downloadable Workout Plan.

Workout of the Day: Abs & Cardio (02/16)

Just in case you guys were wondering why there's a lot more Abs
and cardio workouts floating around this month ;)

I've always wanted to have a flat mid section since my teen years,
but I never found the right, healthy way to do it. Even today,
it's still a struggle and work in progress!

This workout is a glimpse at the many other different workouts
that are in my Monthly Downloadable Workout Plan.

Workout of the Day: Abs & Cardio (02/12)

Abs can be tricky. We often
feel the need to do a lot more than we really need - in order to
reveal our abdominals. However, that may not be the case.

Now don't we all feel this way?! The "secret" (it's not really
a secret) to revealing your abs - is to eat a clean, healthy, balanced
diet and pair that up with some fat burning cardio exercise.
Sorry, but doing 300 sit ups a day won't get them to show!
Abs will only show when the overall body fat% drops!

This ab workout will not only help you strengthen your abdominals,
but the circuit layout will help you burn some extra calories as well.

Monthly Downloadable Workout Plans!

Plans are, you can read more about it here

Workout of the Day: 02/05 (Abs & Cardio: At Home Edition)

Wednesday's are my longest school days, and I'm usually exhausted
by the end of the day. Instead of lifting heavy at the gym, I'd rather
spend some time at home working on a Ab circuit.

Speedbags: Use your right arm and cross punch to the top left corner, and
your left arm and cross punch to the top right corner. Engage your abs
as you move from side to side!

This workout is similar to workouts that can be found in my
Monthly Downloadable Workout Plans (MDWP). MWDP includes both
workouts that can be done at home and at the gym. If your goal is to
build muscle and shed fat, then these workouts are suitable for you.
They are based off of previous workouts I've created and posted on my blog.

For complete set ranges, rep ranges, break ranges, and tips for daily workouts,
you can download my Monthly Downloadable Workout for just $5.

In this month's downloadable workout plan you'll find:

Recommend rep ranges, set ranges, break ranges, etc

We're half way through the week everyone!
Keep pushing!
I've got stacks of studying and assignments to get back to now :P

Workout of the Day: 01/18 (Upper Body Circuit)

Today I really tried circuit training for the first time, and it destroyed me!

It wasn't that it got my heart rate insanely high (but still higher than usual), but it was the constant switching back and forths that really burned out my muscles fast. I was trying to go from bench press to push ups and my arms would give in on me :( I switched to doing regular push-ups instead, in order for me to keep going.

I finished the workout off with some much needed foam roalling.. ahhhhh, feels so good!
If you're looking for a challenge, definitely give this circuit a try!

Bench press, Shoulder press, Upright row, Bicep curls - 30 lbs
Dumbbell overhead extension, hammer curls, tricep kickbacks - 8 lbs

Thoughts of the day:

This is a remind to myself and some helpful advice to all of my readers.
"Be a warrior and not a worrier". Be stronger than your excuses.
I am quite the worrisome person.  My boyfriend even pointed out that "I need to stop worrying so much". I worry about being late for class, missing the train, doing bad on my exams, messing up my workout routines and injuring myself... the list goes on.
So instead of coming up with excuses to avoid problems, focus on using strength to overcome those obstacles instead :)

Cheers!
